Future of Older Retirement Communities?

Though retirement communities seem to be the rage these days, there are actually some areas of the country that have been building these communities since the early sixties.  While the amenities that were included in these earlier-built communities were considered first rate at the time they were built, they have now become somewhat dated and struggle to compete with the amenities packages of the retirement communities being developed today.

There are so many variables involved in selecting that “perfect” new home or community; but for many who are looking at making their new home in a retirement or active-adult community, that may mean making a move from a homeplace that has been familiar, often for many years, to someplace that is new and unfamiliar.

Happy 2007!! A Taste of Life 100 years ago!

happynewyear.jpgIt’s been several years now that I have traded in my traditional glass of bubbly and exchange of New Year’s smacks for a relatively quiet evening at home with my family. We usually end up watching a favorite movie to extend the bedtime hours so that we can welcome in the New Year. And for the last several years, we’ve been fortunate enough to have neighbors that put on a fireworks display that rivals many of the commercial displays I’ve seen. In between the oohs and ahhs, my husband and I always can’t help but question just what a firework display like that might cost.
