Meridian Home Giveaway

Georgia Senior Declared Winner in Meridian Home Giveaway

Meridian Home Giveaway For the past eight months, Atlanta-based Meridian Homes has collected some 8,300-plus entries for a promotional giveaway, where the lucky winner would be given a choice of $150,000 in cash or allowed spending of up to $200,000 on the purchase of a new Meridian home.

Meridian Homes, established in 1995, has been ranked one of Atlanta’s top 25 builders by the Atlanta Business Chronicle for each year since 1997.  The majority of Meridian communities, including four active-adult communities, are located within the state of Georgia, with several communities emerging throughout South Carolina.

Meridian, the founder of the “It’s Included” philosophy, where many features customarily considered as costly upgrades, is known to offer many of these upscale options as standard.  This sense of commitment to quality has gained Meridian multiple Gold and Silver Professionalism Awards from the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association.

With many of us reluctant in this day and age to even enter such promotional giveaways, can you imagine the sheer elation felt when Gloria Horn, a 65-year-old widow, received notification that her dream entry – a long shot – was, in fact, the lucky chosen one?  But winner she was; and on Tuesday, April 17th, at the Meridian Homes’ Neely Manor community, the official announcement and presentation for the grand prize winner took place.

After living in the Wagon Trail Mobile Home Community in Loganville, Georgia, for the last 28 years, Gloria is looking intently at choosing a home in The Oaks at Mill Creek in Monroe, Georgia, for her winnings.    For Gloria Horn, this new home will not be a downsized home, an upsized home, or even a getaway second home.  For Gloria Horn, already enjoying her earliest years of seniorhood, this will be her first home.

There are many choices corporations can make regarding spending their marketing dollars.  Darrell McWaters, President of Meridian Homes, when asked about the motivation behind such a large contest stated, “We wanted to do something big to give back to our customers and the community.  Being a home builder, giving away a new home seemed the natural choice.”

Meridian Homes has also been involved in other worthwhile community causes, such as donating several lots to Habitat for Humanity, donating land for a public park in Loganville, Georgia, rebuilding four arson-damaged homes in Village Place, and others.

Real estate development can obviously be quite a lucrative industry, oftentimes with hefty profits.  How corporations choose to invest or spend certain portions of these profits is at the discretion of each individual corporation.   It is refreshing to see companies such as Meridian implement alternative marketing strategies that not only reach but benefit the communities that have helped them prosper.

For Gloria Horn, a lifelong dream of home ownership has become a reality.  For the rest of us, Meridian, you have our attention.
