Golden Gates By States

Putting together a website with a comprehensive list of active-adult community links was what originally captured my interest when I was searching for one for my mom. From personal experience I found Googling active-adult communities or retirement communities or 55+ communities or the various other keywords I could think of to find a community that suited what I was looking for was tedious. Of course, if it was tedious for me, it had to be equally frustrating for others, and especially for those whose time to surf the Internet was limited.

The next couple of pages will be devoted to as comprehensive a list as I can come up with of active-adult communities by states. Many of these communities are gated, and as you’ve heard me mention (gasp is more like it) and will probably hear again, based on some of the prices I’ve seen, there’s a good chance some of those gates are golden.

It is my hope that consolidating these communities into an easily-accessible list by state will make my readers’ new home search a little bit easier. Since the number of these communities is growing exponentially, I will do my best to update these pages with new communities as they become known to me. Any input with regard to new communities that I may have missed would be much appreciated. Though I’m sure I will, I don’t want to intentionally leave anyone out.

If you are seriously looking to move to an active-adult community at some point in your future, or even if you’re not, I hope you will enjoy looking at the websites of these beautifully-planned communities as much as I do. Remember the old Sears Christmas catalogs we used to anticipate yearly as kids? These are the equivalent, in my opinion — a wishbook chock-full of real estate for the active-adult.

As time and other considerations permit, I intend to further research and visit many of these communities and provide additional information pertinent to not only the community but of the surrounding areas as well. This should be especially helpful for those considering a distant relocation or for those attracted to the area but are unable to afford the communities that are being developed for that area.

So when you have some time, grab a cup of coffee or tea or whatever the moment warrants and have a look around and find yourself oohing and ahhing and oh, yes, as I so often find myself doing - gasping. Enjoy.
