Active Adult and Retirement Communities in Maine Offer Environmentally-Friendly Incentives to Customers
Several active adult and retirement communities in Maine – OceanView at Falmouth, The Highlands, and Highland Green of Topsham – in an effort to increase year-end sales, are offering a free Toyota Prius and/or a free solar hot water system as incentives to customers purchasing a new home or home site. And in the spirit of good will toward their existing home owners, these communities are also offering an “at-cost” installation of a new solar hot water system.
Operated by John Wasileski and Sea Coast Management Company, encouraging the residents of their communities to make “green” choices is part of the voluntary pledge made on behalf of these communities to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
“Being part of a responsible community that helps protect the environment is increasingly important to our customers,” stated Wasileski. “And it’s not just the Boomers. By embracing sustainable practices and providing our residents with options such as solar power, we’re appealing to the marketplace and doing right by the environment.”
OceanView at Falmouth and The Highlands of Topsham are both installing large-scale solar hot water systems to provide hot water to the retirement communities’ residents and kitchen facilities. Highland Green, named one of America’s 100 best master-planned communities two times now, has preserved 230 of its 650 acres as a conservation easement that offers hiking trails and by trust forever protects a section of the Cathance River.
