The World To Sea

residensea.jpgLooking at beautiful properties has long been a favorite pastime of mine. Often, when it’s my turn to choose a leisurely Sunday afternoon excursion, it’s not unusual for my request to be a drive around to check out the newest-built communities that have surfaced.

For the past few years, the active adult/senior communities are what have interested me most. It’s fun to see the new floorplans being offered, and it’s a great way to get new decorating ideas. The models always look like they belong inside a magazine and just what I’d like to have in my home if only my interior designer wasn’t — well, me.

Since creating this website, there is less time on Sunday afternoons for leisurely drives, though exploring the many community websites found during my research has become equally enjoyable, even when those homes - and in some cases the lots - have one too many zeros in their asking price for my personal home consideration.

Every once in a while there is a community so unique that their description could easily read like a fairy tale. And since my readers are looking for “happily everafter,” I find myself paying extra close attention to these, even when they may only be afforded by very few.

Just the other day one of those community websites caught my residensea3.jpgattention. This community, The World, is unique in that this community’s home is the open water, and its backyard scenery is constantly changing to include some of the most breathtaking ports in the world.

Though it is not an age-restricted community, it has many of the amenities that interest this age group:  no yard maintenance; a variety of restaurants on site, as well as room service; state-of-the-art golf simulator, golf instruction, and access to putting greens, chipping areas and open-air driving ranges; spa services; swimming pool; laundry service; casino; card room; cigar club; night club; lobby bar; art gallery; theatre; tremendous ocean views from most every room; and a travel itenerary that is out of this world.

For those people who’ve longed to have time to see the world, but dread the tedious hours spent rushing through airports or confined to the limited airplane cabin space, there is another way.  The World is a luxury oceanliner that offers permanent residency, as well as rental units, for those seeking an alternative active adult lifestyle.  If travelling around the world in luxury to places like China, Africa, Funchal, and even Antartica interests you, The World may be the new home you’re looking for.
